Levitra Precautions
Levitra is a phosphodiestrase inhibitor intended for treatment of erectile dysfunction in men. Its action lies in suppressing the phosphodiestrase type 5 (PDE-5), a substance, which prevents the loosening of penile muscles. For this reason, Livitra (vardenafil), along with Viagra and Cialis, is categorized as a PDE-5 inhibitor. On the other hand, vardenafil contributes to the production of cyclic guanosine monophosphate, which helps relax the muscles and ensures sufficient blood flow to the penile chambers, which is crucial for steady and hard erection.
Levitra's action is only observable during sexual stimulation. The drug starts working about an hour after administration, so it is best used 1 hour before sexual intercourse. Vardenafil is a prescription medicine, intended for oral taking, either with or without food. This medicine should only be applied as directed by your healthcare provider. Do not take the drug without a doctor's consultation. It is very important to discuss with the doctor diseases, if any, you have or used to have. Levitra is available in pills, and there are four types of them: 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg and 20 mg pills.
Reportedly, this medicine influences blood pressure levels, especially if used concomitantly with other stimulants and nitrates (drugs intended for treatment of angina and heart problems). In some cases, blood pressure may drop dramatically and cause faintness and loss of consciousness. Rapid decrease of blood pressure leads to insufficient blood flow to the optic nerve and internal ear, causing sudden loss of vision and hearing difficulties. The risk of the abovementioned side effects is higher if you have diabetes, heart insufficiency, hypertension, or bad cholesterol. The drug is not recommended for people suffering hepatic insufficiency, because in this case it may not metabolize fast enough. If you have renal insufficiency, your body will be slow to excrete the drug. In both cases, use of the medicine may lead to high plasma levels of vardenafil. If you have any of the described conditions, please, consult your physician before taking the drug.
Over the past few years, Levitra appears to be getting the better of Viagra in terms of efficacy and safety. There are much fewer reports about undesirable side effects from Levitra users than from Viagra users. The drug is manufactured by Bayer Corporation, Germany.
